The West Kowloon Site in the HKSAR provides the most panoramic view of the Hong Kong harbour, Lantau Island and a spectacular sunset. As one of the few remaining undeveloped waterfront areas in the central city, it is too valuable a public asset to be auctioned off for speculative development.

In complement with a future cultural district, a plan to develop the West Kowloon corridor into a green park is the most sensible and best long term interest for the legacy of the Hong Kong people. An investment in a world-class urban green park will provide many returns for the environment, public health, social benefit and tourism.

Hong Kong Alternatives believes a sensible and sustainable solution for the harbourfront is necessary to ensure the future health and prosperity of the city and people.

HK Alternatives actively supports ‘Pearl for the World’ a joint project by HKU-ICEE (Hong Kong University – Initiative on Clean Energy & Environment).  This project proposes a sustainable development framework for the HKSAR over the next 50 years.  It includes a substantial increase in urban parkland and a series of interconnected green links.
